We, as a society create, build, and move; forever creating, building and moving toward greater abundance.
But, here’s the caveat, ‘Our society’ has lost its way. Don’t believe me? Watch the news. I guarantee you’ll hear hundreds of sales pitches to override all those doubts you didn’t know you had, stories of people picking up the fragments of their lives after destruction, violence and/or tragedy, as well as stories of the ‘rich getting richer and poorer getting poorer’. Okay, so we all know the news sensationalizes negativity, and you say, ‘turn it off’, ‘that’ll take care of unnecessary fear-mongering’. Easy enough, but aside from the media, just listen to people talk. I mean really listen to your family, friends, the mailman or the elderly gentleman in line at the grocery store. Underneath that hardened exterior, captivating personality, or seemingly distracted individual, there often lies anxiety and fear. Where did it come from? News? Maybe, but I’m willing to bet it’s an effect of SOUL Distancing. We’ve become so obsessed with creating, building and moving, that we’ve lost sight of what truly matters.
We, as a society create ego and expectation, build status and power, and move our economy without as much as a second thought. In fact, it’s the norm and we’ve lost our way. We create, build and move while we distance from what matters . . . our most AUTHENTIC ESSENCE. We Soul Distance. We ignore the one thing that keeps us grounded, level-headed and sane—connecting OUR mind, body and spirit. I am someone who believes in the ‘power of three’; ‘united we stand, separated we fall’, ‘trinity’ and all the other expressions and clichés that abound. A connected mind, body and spirit, can’t steer us wrong.
Albeit, not all societies are measured equal. Some already maintain equal respect for self, community and nature, but some lose sight of what’s important and what makes us human. Sure, we all know what matters in theory . . . health, happiness, family, prosperity . . . but, I think there’s room for improvement and apparently, I’m not alone: Enter Covid-19. Yes, I believe even Covid-19 has a Divine Purpose.
Is our isolation an effect of our climate woes? Mother Earth sending us a wake-up call; giving herself a break from serving us? Is it government conspiracy, corporate genocide, divine intervention or cosmic reconciliation? All possible theories, depending on who you talk to though yet to be determined. The truth is, it doesn’t matter where the virus came from, when speculating within this framework. From a science, economic and educational standpoint it matters, but the virus’ origin doesn’t matter within a visionary context, especially as it relates to connection and spiritual awareness.
All that matters is how we react to the lesson we’ve been given, regardless of why and how it all came to be. I have no doubt OUR FRONTLINE WORKERS get it, estranged from family and over-worked while risking their health and well-being, but now it’s time for the rest of us to wake-up. (Granted, based on the traffic and people milling about, it’ll take longer for some).
We’ve been forced into lockdown, forced to revaluate our motives, what makes us tick and what makes us human.
We’ve disconnected from our true essence in pursuit of creating, building and moving; disconnected from what grounds us, revitalizes us and ultimately what resides at the core of our foundation. And now, when there’s anxiety and fear running amuck, as mental-health statistics sky-rocket, and economies shake, we are being offered an opportunity to SLOW, LOOK AROUND and REEVALUATE our purpose and how we live our lives.
Not to undermine, the hardships this virus has presented. My heart breaks for the loss, loneliness and fear COVID-19 has instilled, but underneath all the trauma . . .
- We have been given an opportunity to replace our self-serving tendencies with respect and appreciation for the well-being of others via SOCIAL distancing.
- We have been given an opportunity to rebuild from within, focus less on the climb, and on our personal status and power.
- We have been given an opportunity to discover our passions, ignite our fires, and consider what moves us, beyond material consumption and personal gain.
- We have been given an opportunity to RECONNECT with what matters.
In the days to come, COVID-19 will be all but a blip on the radar of humanity. It’s already begun in some parts of the world. Will you allow apathetic notions to dissipate into a life well-lived? Or will you choose to use this ‘down time’ wisely and reconnect? Hey, what can a little soul- searching hurt?
If we each take the time and tune-in, connect and grow our appreciation for living authentically, maybe just maybe, we can lift each other up and expose the anxiety and fears hiding beneath the surface, for what they really are—the ugly effect of SOUL Distancing. A disconnect between mind, body, spirit. It’s time to be human again folks. Create Consciousness, Build Foundations and Move Spirit.
I believe ‘Everything is energy; everything has Divine purpose’. The how and why of COVID-19 is yet to be determined, but for me, it will mean opportunity; a chance to renew, reconnect and remerge stronger than ever, devoid of worry and fear. Imagine a world where we create community not ego, build each other up, not status’, and bolster morale before material wealth. Just imagine.
Be Happy.

Love, love, love this! I have been writing down the positive aspects covid 19 has brought in to my life. For a lot of people it has been a chance to truly reconnect with their families. It has shown me how important nature is to me. It has been a time to lift up and be lifted up by friends that are family to me. There are lessons to be learned if we pay attention. Thank you for this post.
I enjoyed your insight and thoughts and ideas for others. It has made me focus on more simpler things, nurturing seeds, connecting with family in UK I had mostly never met, walking and trying to relax and work on projects long put aside. Hopefully, this will change everyone for the better.
