The mechanics of meditation are not as daunting as most people envision. Meditation is not limited to climbing a mountain and sitting for days in solitude while sacrificing daily necessities; which may or may not include food, drink, sleep and exercise. Meditation is simply the conscious quieting of the mind; if only for a fraction of a second. It is a moment to take pause and consciously make ourselves present. Breathing and Connecting our physical bodies with our higher (more wiser) selves. A lot can happen in those few seconds or minutes. Our bodies are able to just ‘be’. We enable ourselves to connect with the present moment, feel calm and allow our energies to re align. A few quick seconds is all it takes to gain valuable perspective, avoid rash and/or impulsive decisions and affirm to ourselves that we are more than fast paced physical bodies. We are spiritual bodies living a physical existence after all.
Personally, meditation has become a habit for me. If I don’t take those few moments each day to connect, I don’t feel complete. The comparison here would be brushing your teeth in the morning or having that much needed cup of java to get your day started. I’ve learned a lot by way of meditation but the most noteworthy lesson is the importance of self love. Meditation is a vessel that teaches all of us to listen more carefully and take note of our inner voice, delve deeper into our relationship with our higher selves and appreciate the loving soulful beings that we are. I keep it simple and generally meditate for just ten minutes a day. However, the benefits that have emerged from meditating have far exceeded my expectations (Insert many wonderful and beautiful spiritual occurrences here). Meditation ultimately is a form of self love which inarguably IS the first and foremost kind of love that there is. Hey…since the world can always use a little more love in it… Try it, Practice it, Trust in it!
